Fort Collins Fly Fishing Lessons: Testimonial

 Today's Blog Post

Kelli's 1st Brown Trout

Kelli's 2nd Brown Trout

My husband and I have never been fly fishing before and Mark (and Andrew) were excellent, patient, guides for us! They made us feel comfortable and had so much knowledge and technique to share with us! We caught a bunch of beautiful trout on the river our first time out. Highly recommend, and will book again. Thanks Mark! First cast is first class!

Kelli & Ryan Wyzinski. Windsor, CO.

For Ryan's 40th birthday, Kelli requested our beginner guide service - one hour of on-land casting instruction followed by four hours of in-water guiding.

The weather forecast was predicting 100 degrees, with strong UV rays.  To avoid extreme heat and 7,000 feet UV rays, we started at 7a.

Starting early was the right call.  Kelli used a 2wt fly rod and a dry fly - she was on fish immediately.

Ryan chose to use a 10'6" 3wt tightline nymph rod - he missed several strikes (very common with this advanced technique), but eventually hooked/landed a few.

By the end of the day, both landed 8-10 trout, lost another 4-6 trout in the fight, and missed 10-12 strikes.

Ryan's 1st Brown Trout
Happy 40th birthday Ryan and happy first Brown Trout (via tightline nymphing).

For newbies, you and Kelli did amazingly well - your greatest skill was patience - all great anglers have it!

Hope you and Kelli keep fly fishing.
