Fly Fishing Lessons in New Hampshire (NH)

E.I. Fly™1X:  Beginner Level

This beginner class is designed for those who have a general curiosity about fly-fishing and who say, “I would love to learn how to fly fish, but I don’t have the time or gear to learn.” So, to introduce you to fly fishing, we review rod set-up/balance, casting theory-instruction, and casting drills & skills.


The E.I. Fly™1X class is easily accessible and can be taught in a variety of locations. For Example: work, home, local park's, or our private casting pond.  Students are given the rare opportunity to cast the ECHO micro practice rod and fast and medium action fly rods. By offering this unique combination of casting instruction and use of top brand equipment, our students’ fly fishing skill and intelligence improves immediately. Note: instruction is on land and we are not actively trying to catch fish.


Rate/Time: Donation Only.

  
  • (1) Angler: suggested minimum donation is $20.00 per hour. 
  • (2-3) Anglers: suggested minimum donation is $15.00 per hour, per person.
  • (4-6) Anglers: suggested minimum donation is $10.00 per hour, per person.
  • Maximum: 2-4 hours/1-6 students.
  • Age: Under 12 years old, must be accompanied by an adult.  
  • Monday- Sunday.

Note: All donations are used to offset the cost of equipment and supplies associated with the community youth programs.


Equipment Needed: polarized sunglasses, hat, and camera. If you have your own fly rod and accessories, please feel free to bring them.



E.I. Fly™1X


E.I. Fly™2X:  Beginner & Intermediate Level

This course is offered to those who have either completed the E.I. Fly™1X class, have limited experience with fly fishing or for any newcomer who is bound and determine to learn the art of fly fishing.


E.I. Fly™2X class is a multi-day course totaling 12-15 hours. This course covers: rod, gear and equipment options, casting theory, drills and skills, knot tying, fish ecology, aquatic insects, fish identification, safety, ethical fishing practices and lots more. Instruction will be given on land and on our private casting pond.


Scheduling: class schedule can be customized to meet your needs.  In other words, classes can be a fast paced 2 day event, or spread out over 4 weeks.


Rate/Time: Donation Only 



  • Suggest minimum donation is $250 per person.  
  • Maximum: 1-10 students. 
  • Age: 14 years and older 
  • Monday-Sunday

Note:  When we first started FCFF the public had a hard time understanding the concept of 'donation only.'  For example, people would ask, "how much do you charge per hour,All donations are used to offset the cost of equipment and supplies associated with the community youth programs.

Equipment Needed: polarized sunglasses, hat, appropriate clothing, camera, and food. If you have your own fly rod and accessories, please feel free to bring them.



FCFF Private Casting Pond

E.I. Fly™3X:  Beginner & Intermediate Level


The 3X course has been designed to combine half the 2X and half the 4X courses. Why? 70% of the 2X class format is classroom lecture and the other 30% is spent casting on our private pond.  In other words, the 2X course is an in-depth introduction to fly fishing; however, we don't actively try to catch fish.  The 3X course can be customized to meet your needs, but a typical day goes like: 



  • 10am-12am: Knot Tying, Gear and Equipment Review, etc.
  • 12am-1pm: Lunch
  • 1pm-3pm: Casting on Private Pond
  • 3pm-6pm: Fly Fishing Home Waters

E.I. Fly™3X Home Waters Southern New Hampshire:


  • Rivers: Cocheco, Lamprey, Isinglass, Exeter, Newfound, Pemigawasset
  • Pond/Lakes: Bellamy Reservoir
  • Ocean (stripers & blues): Squamscott, S. Maine, NH seacoast & N. MA coastline

E.I. Fly™3X Home Waters North New Hampshire:


  • Rivers: Connecticut and Androscoggin.
  • Pond/Lake: Back and Connecticut (1st, 2nd, 3rd) 

Rate/Time: Donation Only



  • (1) Angler: suggested minimum donation is $30 per hour 
  • (2) Anglers: suggested minimum donation is $25 per hour, per person
  • (3-4) Anglers: suggested minimum donation is $20.00 per hour, per person
  • Maximum: 1-4 students 
  • Age: 14 years and older 
  • Hours: 8-10 hours
  • Monday-Sunday.

Equipment Needed: fly rod (we have extras), waders, wading staff, polarized sunglasses, hat, appropriate clothing, camera, and food. If you have your own fly rod and accessories, please feel free to bring them.



E.I. Fly™3X

E.I. Fly™4X:  
Advance Level

This is the highest level of instruction and guiding…be prepared to catch fish!


The E.I. Fly™4X course has been designed for students who have completed E.I. Fly™1X, 2X and 3X, or any fly fisherman desiring 1:1 advance on-water instruction and guiding. You will find yourself on technical water experiencing a variety of advance fly fishing techniques…. all designed to build your fly fishing confidence and skill.  By days end, you will understand the emotional (the Art) and intellectual (the Science) process of fly fishing. Equally important, for beginner/intermediate students, you will be able to start fishing on your own. You simply cannot get this level of instruction in any traditional fly fishing class.


E.I. Fly™4X Home Waters Southern New Hampshire:

E.I. Fly™4X

Equipment and Safety

We provide only the best beginner fly fishing equipment available. Our students/clients are given the opportunity to cast fast and medium action fly rods.


Special Safety Note


A.  In case of an emergency FCFF will need your full contact information prior to any lessons or guiding.  In addition, if we are on the water fishing, NH Fish & Game requires that we record your fishing license number.


B.  We highly recommend that you bring polarized sunglasses, wading staff and your own pair of waders and boots. If you do not have these items, we will do our best to provide appropriate gear.  With respect to weather and appropriate clothing, please double check local weather and discuss with FCFF.
